Privacy Policy

Last updated: 10 October 2026

The Lakshmi Onkar Memorial Foundation (“we”, “us”) runs a free emergency blood donor network. Families of patients send us blood requests, and we alert registered voluntary donors nearby on WhatsApp. To do this we need some personal information. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and how you can have it corrected or deleted. It is written to meet India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

Questions or requests about your data: message us on WhatsApp +91 94820 23949 or email [email protected].

1. What we collect

If you register as a donor (on this website or on WhatsApp):

  • Name, WhatsApp number, blood group, gender, age and weight.
  • Home area, city and pincode, and optionally a work area. We turn these into approximate map coordinates so we only alert you for emergencies near you.
  • Your last donation date, and later your donation history and how you answered our alerts (accepted, declined or no reply).

If you request blood (on this website or on WhatsApp):

  • Patient name, age, gender and diagnosis or reason; the blood group, component and number of units needed; how urgent it is and when it is needed.
  • Hospital name and address, and the attendant’s name and phone numbers.

If you message us on WhatsApp: your WhatsApp name and number, and the messages, voice notes or photos you send, so we can understand and answer them.

When you visit this website: standard technical and usage information collected by Google Analytics, Cloudflare and, on the home and registration pages only, the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, for example pages visited, device and browser type, and approximate location from your IP address. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that forms are sent by a person and not a bot.

2. Why we use it

  • To match a blood request with donors of the right blood group near the hospital, and send them WhatsApp alerts.
  • To connect a donor who accepts a request with the patient’s attendant.
  • To respect donors’ rest periods after donating (90 days for men, 120 days for women), and to check once a month that donors still want to receive alerts.
  • To answer questions sent to us on WhatsApp.
  • To understand how the service is used and to keep it safe and working, for example error logs and anti-spam checks.

We rely on your consent, which you give when you submit a form or message us. We never sell your data, and we never use it to advertise to you.

3. Who we share it with

  • Matching donors see the blood group needed, the area or pincode and the distance. Only donors who accept a request receive the hospital details and the attendant’s phone number.
  • The patient’s attendant receives the name and phone number of a donor only after that donor accepts.
  • Donor phone numbers and locations are never published on this website or shared with anyone else.

We use these service providers to run the network. They process data on our behalf:

  • Meta: the WhatsApp Business Platform, to send and receive WhatsApp messages; and the Meta Pixel, for website statistics on our home and donor registration pages only (never on the blood request or tracking pages).
  • Google: Maps (turning an address into map coordinates), Gemini AI (reading messages, voice notes and photos sent on WhatsApp so the details can be filled in automatically) and Analytics (website statistics).
  • Cloudflare, for website security, anti-spam checks and statistics.
  • DigitalOcean, which hosts our servers and database.

Some of these providers may process data outside India.

4. How long we keep it

  • Donor details are kept while you are registered. If you ask to be removed, we stop all alerts straight away and delete your details on request.
  • Blood requests are kept as a record of the emergency and how it was handled, unless you ask us to delete them.
  • WhatsApp conversations are kept so we can follow up, and can be deleted on request.

5. Your rights

You can at any time:

  • Ask what personal data we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct or update it, or simply register again with the new details.
  • Withdraw your consent and stop alerts: tap Please remove me in our monthly WhatsApp check, or message us. You can also tap Pause to stop alerts for a while.
  • Ask us to delete your data.
  • Nominate someone to use these rights for you if you are unable to.

To use any of these rights, message us on WhatsApp +91 94820 23949 or email [email protected]. We aim to reply within 7 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

6. Keeping data safe

Our database cannot be reached from the internet, our forms are protected against spam and bots, our admin tools need a PIN and an authenticator code, and all traffic to this website is encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

7. Children

Donors must be 18 or older. A blood request for a child must be sent by a parent, guardian or the attendant responsible for the patient.

8. Changes to this policy

If we change how we use personal data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
